What does rehabilitation mean to you?
Many people know the concept of rehabilitation. The process after an injury or surgical procedure that aims to restore strength and function to a particular body part.
What is less familiar is the term pre-habilitation (pre-hab).
This is the time before surgical intervention but, here’s the thing, it’s actually the best time to focus on maintaining strength and use of the injured area.
Why is that? It’s because this is the phase that prepares the body (and mind) for surgery to try and optimise the chance of a successful outcome and rapid recovery.
There’s so much mis-information floating around this space, it’s my mission to make sure you understand what professional pre-hab looks like and whether it’s right for you.
